Principal benefits of WDS:

Resolution:

The superior resolution of WDS compared with EDS allows lines to be resolved which are obscured by peak overlaps in EDS.  In the EDS spectrum the molybdenum and sulfur lines are overlapped, but can be resolved in the WDS spectrum .

Sensitivity

The presence of a trace amount of silicon is questionable in the EDS spectrum, but certain in the WDS spectrum.
